It's been one of those days at work today and I'm now tired and just a little cranky. When I get cranky, things obviously piss me off even more than usual - Yes, I get pissed off a lot, but today things that don't always bother me, have been!
Firstly....Liberals! Fucking liberals. I've just read a comment that someone has left on a forum/message board thing about oyster cards (
http://www.reengage.org/go/Article_129.html). Apparently they are Ken Livingstone's way of monitoring our every movement throughout London. Yes, but who the hell cares? I don't really care if he knows that I got on a DLR in the morning and then a tube and then returned late at night on the N15. I'm sure some statistician will get off on it, but why should I be concerned about it? Does Ken sit in his lovely glass office and think "oooh...Gareth was drunk again tonight and had to get a bus back from Beckton after he fell asleep on the other bus he was on". Frankly, if he is thinking this, I would like him to tell me....simply because then I would know exactly where I was on that night!
Then you have people complaining about the new NHS integrated database. Yes, it's costing too much, but the idea is a great one. The fact that we don't have one already is fucking shameful. If you go into hospital tomorrow (remember, this is 2005) they will have to ask YOU whether YOU are allergic to something and what operations you've had. What? I want them to know this kind of stuff....What if I couldn't tell them? What if I was nearly dead? Currently they would have to send a request to my GP (god knows who that is!) for my medical records which could then be faxed to the hospital! Bloody disgrace. (Apparently you can
opt out of the database...that should keep the liberals happy - until they die of an allergic reaction to latex or common sense or something!)
Now on to something else...I've mentioned this before so I won't go into any detail....But those fucking (I'm going to use this word a lot) little shitty bags that people pull behind them. I have a bag...I don't need to pull it behind me. What's in the bags? paperwork? what? I saw two women trip over the same bag today and then the twat pulling it ran it over the feet of two blokes that were trying to pass behind him. He didn't look 'round to say sorry...he doesn't have to...Because he's an important little shit with a pull bag. Maybe we should all get ones that we can push in front of us so that we can push through people like tanks!
Some brief ones now as I'm getting even more pissed off:
- To the people on the Bank DLR platform - stop walking from one end to the other. If you come in from the Monument side, there is no need to walk to the other end of the platform...as this is where the people from the Bank side come in...and they will be walking down to your end. All you're doing is swapping ends. STOP IT! It's stupid! And don't tell me you like the other end because that's where the exit is at your stop - if that's the case, walk along the corridor and then enter the platform! Knobheads.
- Get out of the way when people are getting off the tube! Standing there in the middle tutting that people are taking their time getting off is not going to help. The reason they are taking their time is because you are in their way. If you move out of their way, they would get off quicker, and you will get on quicker! Common sense...we are all born with it, use it!
- Finally...The buttons to open the doors on the DLR work for both men and women! Women...Don't stand there and hope some 'gentleman' is going to open the door for you. If you want equal rights, then bloody well stick to your side of the deal!
